Diplomatic Hub Discussed for Buckhead
A few weeks ago I updated you on the stalled Streets of Buckhead project that is seeking additional funding to complete its vision for a 5-star shopping and dining destination.
Now several powerful groups are floating the idea of turning this prime piece of Buckhead into the first international diplomatic zone in the state of Georgia. Supporter of the idea include leaders of Atlanta International School, the Metro Atlanta Chamber, the Buckhead Community Improvement District and the Buckhead Coalition and the Atlanta Business Chronice Recently featured an article breaking the idea.
Although I would like to see the Streets of Buckhead finished according to the original plan, a diplomatic zone in Buckhead would benefit the city as a whole. If you think about it, most international cities feature “Embassy Row” or some other distinct area where foreign embassies can be found. Many diplomats already live in the Buckhead area and in my opinion, this would be a great idea!
