The Street of Buckhead was assembled by native Atlantan Ben Carter who paid top dollar to buy an odd assortment of clubs and bars that did not give the sort of image that most in Buckhead would be proud of.

In 2007, after spending a small fortune to acquire all of the land in a prime Buckhead location at Pharr Rd and Peachtree Road, Carter began construction on what was envisioned to be half a million square feet of high-end retail and restauraunts, along with a hotel and condos.

But things have not gone as planned….in the past week both the Wall Street Journal and the AJC have reported that the stalled project is in talks with new private investors who may be giving up to $200 million to see the project through to completion.

Since construction was put on hold late last year, the Streets of Buckhead is one of the low points of a drive down Peachtree Street. A fresh injection of the capital needed to bring the project to fruition would be just what many Buckhead homeowners would like to see.
